PROGRAMME INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:

  • Explain concepts and methods fundamental to basic science;
  • Interpret measurement data using quantitative methods;
  • Perform skilled tasks responsibly, in accordance with ethical norms, and produce outputs that meet quality standards;
  • Relate issues in science to the socio-political, cultural and economic contexts of the region and beyond, as a participating and responsible members of civic society;
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English; and
  • Relate the major ideas in arts and humanities, science and technology to their own area of study.

FURTHER STUDIES PATHWAYS

This programme has been offered since 2017-18. Possible articulation may include science-related degree programmes in City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong.

CAREER PROSPECTS

With STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills, graduates from this programme will be qualified for positions as Laboratory Assistants or Technicians, in, for example, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medical laboratories, suppliers of medical equipment, food and beverage, quality assurance, testing, and insurance companies.
