Programme Intended Learning Outcomes (PILOs)

Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to:

  • Explain concepts and methods fundamental to basic science;
  • Interpret measurement data using quantitative methods;
  • Perform skilled tasks responsibly, in accordance with ethical norms, and produce outputs that meet quality standards;
  • Relate issues in science to the socio-political, cultural and economic contexts of the region and beyond, as a participating and responsible members of civic society;
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English; and
  • Relate the major ideas in arts and humanities, science and technology to their own area of study.

Further Studies Pathways

This is a programme offered by CCCU starting from 2017-18. Possible articulation pathways include Science degree programmes of the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong.


Career Prospects

For career development, by equipping students with STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills, graduates from this programme will be capable to take up the following positions: Laboratory Assistant or Technician, Assistant Product Specialist, Assistant Chemist, Quality Assurance Assistant, Product Testing Assistant, Assistant Physicist, Metrology Assistant, Claims Officer, Statistical Officer, Data Analyst, Audit Associate, Research Assistant, Teacher or Tutor or Nutritionist. Related job opportunities are available with a wide-range of companies, for example hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medical laboratories, suppliers of medical equipment, food or beverage, insurance companies.
